Street Providence NGO will be sending a truck filled with rations for the people who are in distress and affected due to the Wayanad catastrophe. The ration will be given to the people in the relief camps that have been set up in Kannur.
Street Provident has also sent money to the Archdiocese of Kannur to pay the bills of the people who are in need. The Street Providence Food Bank of Sangolda has successfully managed to finally get their first kitchen, up and running at a relief camp in Wayanad for families displaced by these floods.
The NGO has appreciated and thanked the Diocese of Kannur, Bishop Rev Dr Alex Vadakumthala, Vicar General Rev Fr Clarence Paliath and Fr Shyam (Cannosian) for an opportunity given to them to serve the poor and hungry in such devastating times.
Street Providence has provided dry rations of Rs 3 lacs which was purchased in Kerala itself, to feed meals, 3 times a day in the camp.
The Poolakutti Relief camp will be served with this ration in which 47 families and a total of 127 people are residing including 21 kids.
On the 12th or 13th of August, Street Providence will send its first relief truck from Goa to Calicut and its team of relief volunteers to distribute the relief material which is in coordination with the Diocese of Calicut, headed by Bishop Varghese Chakkalakal.
