PANJIM: All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) Goa unit has urged the State government to strictly monitor the illegal LED fishing in Goan waters, to arrest the drop in fish catch.
TMC spokesperson Trajano D’Mello said that as per Union Ministry’s reply, from 2017 to 2022 the fish production in Goa has declined by 8,000 tonnes.
“The number is huge for a small state like Goa, where fish is part of the staple diet,” Trajano said.
He said that illegal LED fishing is the prime reason for declining fish production.
