PANJIM: The striking tourist taxi operators on Tuesday threatened to work against Minister Michael Lobo and MLA Dayanand Sopte and to ensure defeat of BJP candidates in at least four constituencies for letting them down in their demand to scrap GoaMiles App-based taxi service.
Speaking to the media persons at Azad Maidan, here, the protestors alleged that Ports Minister Michael Lobo always took mileage of the taxi operators strike and turned his back towards them after he was inducted as a Cabinet Minister.
Alleging that Lobo and Mandrem MLA Sopte have failed to safeguard their interests, the taxi operators vowed to work against them in the next Assembly elections.
“We have sizeable strength in Mandrem, Siolim, Saligao and Calangute Constituencies and we will work against the BJP candidates in these constituencies if the government fails to scrap GoaMiles App-based taxi service. We will go all out against Lobo and Sopte in particular,” they said.
The ongoing protest by taxi operators demanding to scrap GoaMiles taxi service entered eighth day on Tuesday.
Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho has already refused to scrap the cab aggregators service in the touristic State but had agreed to shut down the GoaMiles counter at the Dabolim International Airport.
