Structure at Nuvem survives demolition for fifth time

MARGAO: The illegal construction carried out by Jose Inacio Fernandes at Gorvotti in Nuvem survived yet another demolition order on Thursday: this is the fifth time the authorities have failed to execute the order of demolition issued by Deputy Collector.
The deputy collector declared the construction illegal as it was carried out without leaving setback and ordered that it be demolished on December 28, 2016. However, on that day the police did not turn up to provide protection; hence, the demolition was not carried out.
Thereafter the demolition was scheduled nearly a year later on November 1, 2017 on which date the police said they could not provide force as they were pre-occupied with another matter. The demolition was then scheduled on April 26, 2018 on which date the PWD workers did not turn up with the JCB; hence, it could not be carried out.
The demolition was then scheduled on April 20, 2018 on which date the PWD workers again failed to turn up with the JCB and the demolition was once again not carried out.
The demolition was scheduled at 10 am on Thursday; the representatives of the BDO and Mamlatdar were present at the panchayat but the police and PWD workers failed to turn up. Therefore, the demolition was not carried out again on Thursday.
