Student grievously hurt after falling from 2nd floor of Sanjay School

PORVORIM: A 43-year-old student with disabilities from Aldona was grievously injured on Thursday morning after he allegedly fell from the second floor of old Sanjay School building at Porvorim due to a damaged railing. The injured has been identified as Sydney D’Souza

Narrating the incident, aunt of the injured, Rose Sequeira said, “The accident occurred at 10.20 am on Thursday when my nephew along with his mother had visited the school to do his Aadhar card. While they were on the second floor, his mother went inside to submit the documents, Sydney was outside standing leaning on the railing when all of a sudden, it gave way resulting in Sydney falling off. He first fell on the iron sheets and then landed on the ground on his back.”

“He has sustained head and spinal injuries and is also having breathing issues since his ribs are also injured,” D’Souza said.

Sydney has been studying at the Sanjay school for the last 20 years.

“I want strict action to be taken in this matter because today if this can happen with my family, tomorrow it may happen with other people because in year 2019, when I had visited the school for same work, I had seen that the railing was in bad condition and had developed cracks but looks like it was not repaired,” he said.

Sydney is presently undergoing treatment at GMC.
