margao: A student from a school in Aquem, Margao tested positive for COVID-19 forcing the management to shut the institution for the next three days.

Following the news, there was fear and anxiety among the students, parents and the school staff.

On Wednesday, the administration learnt about the student testing positive for the infection.

The schools are following the practice of consulting the parents regarding the health parameters of the students.

The school management called on the parents who informed them that the student was found to be asymptomatic positive on December 13. The school communicated the news to the Health Department which called for sanitising the premises. The Headmistress informed that the staff and students will be tested soon.

As per the Education Department orders, the school had started with 12 Std X students in a class. The 11 students and the teacher will be tested first.

Terming the commencement of regular classes as a bad idea, the parents of the students from other schools demanded shifting back to online classes.
