ASSONORA: Fed up with the state of Affairs in the state the youth from Assonora have come together for a common cause to see a change happen and painted two speed breakers near St. Clara High School on Sunday.
A group of youth under the banner of Revolutionary Goans came together and decided to paint the speed breakers in the area with zebra stripes. It was dangerous for the students going to the school as the vehicles were moving at a fast speed on this route.
They opine that administration in the state has come to a standstill and it is time to take matters into their own hands to make a difference.
The traffic signs are not clear and the speed breakers have not been painted for long and hence not visible. This is leading to a number of accidents in the locality. The youth from the area have begun painting the speed breakers themselves as they did not want any more accidents to happen.
One of the locals who was part of this drive, Manoj Parab told Herald that there is a huge flow of vehicles on this stretch as it is national highway. There are no proper signboards in the village and near St Clara School itself there are two speed breakers but it was not visible.
“We are fed up of waiting in hope that these MLA’s will do our job. Since the lives of the children going to school is in danger we painted the speed breakers in the vicinity of the school. We have just begun the work; we plan to paint many more speed breakers in the area. Even the signboards are either falling or the signs cannot be read by the passer-by” he said.
