Students trek to the hill to get network, sometimes even at night

One has to go 4 to 5 kms to get range to call an ambulance; pregnant women stay at relatives’ place due to this reason

SANGUEM: Verlem villagers are facing a dire situation due to the lack of a reliable mobile network. For years, in the absence of a mobile tower, students and residents have to trek 2 to 3 kilometers to a nearby hill to make a phone call or get network.

They are unable to complete their studies if it requires net connectivity. Sometimes, if required, they have to trudge the road uphill at night. There is a fear of attack by wild animals.
In case of emergencies, calling an ambulance (108 service) is next to impossible. One has to walk 5 kilometres to get range and call the ambulance.
Locals stated that pregnant women stay at their relatives’ houses, where there is network coverage, so that they can call an ambulance to ensure they can reach the hospital in time.
