Students urge DoE to postpone ongoing classes in view of sweltering heat

PANJIM: The National Student’s Union of India (NSUI) Goa unit has urged Directorate of Education (DoE) demanding to postpone the ongoing school classes for a week owing to heat wave like conditions across State. 

NSUI Goa Unit President Naushad Chowdhari said that State is witnessing currently heat wave like conditions and there is also delay in the onset of monsoon. 

He said that the soaring temperature has  created environment of discomfort and health risk, especially to school kids, who spend significant amount of their time in the classroom and school premises. 

“The heat wave like conditions not only affect their physical well-being of the children but also hampers their concentration and learning abilities,” Chowdhari said in the letter. 

NSUI demanded that the classes be postponed till the weather conditions improve. 

The classes for students of I to X and XI reopened for the new academic term from June 5.
