PORVORIM: Porvorim Police have registered a case against Amit Govekar, resident of Succoro, for shooting a lady in her forehead with a gun, thereby attempting to kill her, over a loan repayment which he had availed in her name.
The victim, Vinda Gaonkar was shot in her forehead for asking the accused to pay the loan, which he had taken in her name by mortgaging her gold bangles at Manapurram Finance Limited, Mapusa branch. She has been admitted at GMC, Bambolim for treatment.
A case has been registered against the accused under Section 307 IPC read with 25 of the Arms Act. The accused is absconding after committing the crime on Sunday evening.
The complaint was registered at the police station by the victim’s son. The case is being further investigated by Viju Dessai.
