Sudin assures dedicated pipeline, 5 MLD water tank for Sanguem

SANGUEM: PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar on Thursday assured to lay dedicated pipeline and build a 5 MLD water storage tank in Sanguem town for uninterrupted drinking water supply to the municipal areas.
He also assured to look into the matter of payment of compensation to the Sanguem Municipality towards the use and occupation of the municipality owned land by the PWD in the town area to house the water tank.
The minister made the assurance during his visit to the town, where he inspected the old PWD water tank behind the Government Primary Health Centre, on Thursday.
During his visit, Dhavalikar urged the PWD officials to prepare plans for the construction of 5 MLD water tank in place of the old tank which, he said, is not sufficient to meet the increasing demand for water supply in the town area.
Dhavlikar also directed the officials to draw plans for the construction of independent drinking water supply to the town area from Dando.
During the course of discussion, SMC Chairperson Romualdo Fernandes urged the authorities to plan the work operations of laying the new pipeline only during night time and keep the main road free during day time for smooth movement of vehicular traffic.
Fernandes also reminded Dhavlikar of the PWD not having compensated the municipality for around 2000 sq mtrs of municipal owned land which the Department has been using for past several years.
The municipal authorities also brought to the notice of the PWD minister of the weak condition of Taripanto bridge and the internal roads in the municipal area.
Dhavlikar assured the Council of looking into the demand for construction of new bridge at Taripanto and the internal roads in all wards of Sanguem Municipality.
