Sudin says naked Jain sadhus is a ‘bad’ thing

PANJIM: PWD Minister Ramkrishna Sudin Dhavalikar, who had previously demanded a ban on bikinis on the beaches of Goa, on Tuesday, criticized Jain Sadhus who traditionally walk naked on public roads, saying that it is not done in this day and age.

Dhavalikar termed such a practice as a “very bad” thing to do, and not in consonance with the times.
The MGP MLA’s comment comes some time after former chief minister Digambar Kamat’s photos paying obeisance to a naked Jain sage of the Digambara sect during a function in Margao went viral on Facebook recently.
“It is very bad. It should not happen. Those times were different. We are near 2021 now,” Dhavalikar said, speaking on the sidelines of a press conference at his official residence.
The PWD minister is the brother of cabinet minister Pandurang Deepak Dhavalikar whose wife Lata is in the midst of a major controversy for advising Hindus not to go to convent schools and alleging that western culture is linked to rape.
Sudin had last year demanded a ban on bikinis on Goan beaches, saying it was against Indian culture.
