PONDA: The Sanjivani Sugar Factory employees at Dharbandora demanded Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant absorb them either in any Government department or in the new projects such as NFSU, proposed ethanol plant or the law college or any other projects which the government has planned to set up in sugar mill land.
The employees held gate meeting to thank Sawant, local MLA and PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar and Agriculture Minister Babu Kavlekar for sanctioning their pending ex -gratia amount. The employees were recently in strike for their pending demands.
According to sugar factory employees there are around 104 confirmed employees. Recently many of them had done COVID duty in various places across Goa. Currently they are getting salary according to pay scale of Maharashtra Sugar Factory wage board which is lower than the salaries of Goa Government employees.
As government laid foundation stone for National Forensic Science University (NFSU) recently at the sugar factory land the employees hope that their demand of absorbing them in either (NFSU) or the proposed ethanol plant or any other projects proposed by government at Sanjivani Sugar Factory land in Dharbandora would be fulfilled.
