Sugar factory workers protest break in service

PONDA: As many as 31 contract workers of Sanjivani Sugar Factory protested in front of the factory for being given sudden break in service, on Thursday.

PONDA: As many as 31 contract workers of Sanjivani Sugar Factory protested in front of the factory for being given sudden break in service, on Thursday.
According to the striking workers, many of them were recruited in 2007 for a monthly salary of Rs 3300; and since past three years, they have been working without any break in service and are currently getting a salary of Rs 15,000 per month. The workers said that the management suddenly stopped them on Thursday from punching their cards thereby preventing them from joining duty. 
The workers alleged that the management has given them by break with the intention of making them ineligible for confirmation.
