CANACONA: Three hectares of sugarcane cultivation and other infrastructure at Cotigao in Canacona taluka was destroyed in fire on Friday morning causing a loss of over Rs 2.5 lakh to the owner of the farm.
Also destroyed in the fire was the drip irrigation equipments which include pipes, other fittings and solar fencing equipments.
Fire and emergencies office at Mastimoll in Canacona said that they received a fire call at 10 am from the owner of the sugarcane plantation at Zaifond in Cotigao. Immediately, a fire tender was dispatched and in a two hour operation the fire fighting team headed by Soiru Desai tackled the fire.
