PANJIM: The Government of Goa has invited suggestions, views and comments from the general public on the draft prepared by the Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA) for its solar energy policy which aims to generate almost 150mw power by the year 2022.
The draft prepared by GEDA for its solar policy is available on the Department and Science and Technology website. However the suggestions, comments and views from general public have to reach GEDA by email: gedagoa@yahoo.com or by post on July 14 by 5.45 pm.
Speaking to Herald, Power Minister, Pandurang Madkaikar said, “The solar power policy will immensely provide relief to industries and consumers and will be an alternative source of energy in Goa.”
“This policy shall come into effect from the date of notification in the official gazette in the state of Goa and shall remain in operation up to 7 (seven) years. However, this is subject to modifications as may be made by Government of Goa from time to time and it is proposed to install 150 mw of solar PV power by 2022 as per the guidelines of MNRE and JERC with effect from the year 2015-16,” says the draft plan available on the website.
