Suicide no solution to stress and failure in life, says Deputy CM

PONDA: Stating that suicide is not the solution to stress and failures in life, Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza reminded the young and elder generation that success and failure are part of life and it should be accepted equally.

PONDA: Stating that suicide is not the solution to stress and failures in life, Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza reminded the young and elder generation that success and failure are part of life and it should be accepted equally.
“Communication and discussing problems with relatives and friends can give good solution,” stated D’Souza after launching Goa Counselling and Behaviour Therapy Council, which had organised a workshop on counselling at GVM hall at Ponda.
“In this competitive world, the man is going through stress, but it should be borne in mind that suicide is not the solution to end any problem and therefore proper guidance to face any situation is necessary for young and even elders,” D’Souza said.
He expressed the need for stress management and counselling, which has become the need of the hour in the competitive world, as mental stress is increasing and there is a tendency of not discusses problems with family members.
“Parents should not put excessive pressure on students by forcing their wishes on them to fulfil it. Parents should also be counsellors for them so that they will not think of suicide as a way to beat stressful situation,” he added.
South Goa MP Adv Narendra Savoikar, who is chairman of the organisation, said today the need is felt for counselling students, senior citizens and politicians.
Ponda Municipal Council Deputy Chairperson Shantaram Colvekar, assistant General Manager of SBI Vivek Sahdev, GVMs Chairman Dr Rock D’Costa, Secretary Krishna Shetye, Lorrence Fernandes and Nilkant Naik were present on the occasion.
