SUMUL will accept milk from farmers from today: CM

PANJIM: A day after several dairy farmers protested against Gujarat-based SUMUL’s decision rejecting milk supply by them, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant assured the matter has been resolved. 
“SUMUL had found some antibiotics in the milk, which is given to the cows, and this was the reason for rejecting the milk. They have nonetheless resolved the matter with the farmers. SUMUL will accept milk from the farmers from tomorrow (Wednesday),” he told reporters after a meeting with the SUMUL officials at the Assembly complex on Tuesday. 
SUMUL has also conceded of accepting milk supply while pointing at the communication gap into the entire matter. “We have given a written explanation on what has happened and how things developed. Everything is resolved now and we are ready to accept the milk supply… There was communication gap, etc but it has been discussed,” the official told reporters adding, that the dairy farmers were not willing to speak to the SUMUL even as the change in rules was given to them a week ago. 
Asked on the rejection of the milk produce owing to new tests, the official reiterated the rule by the Centre and conceded that the milk contained antibiotic which is injected on cows during the breeding season.
