Sunburn honchos still want to play music till midnight when whole of Anjuna is battling against loud music

Even after a minister’s assertion that Sunburn won’t play music beyond midnight, Sunburn still hopes for ‘relaxation’

PANJIM: Even after Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte reasserted that Sunburn will not be permitted to be held beyond 10 pm the organizers have continued to hope to get permission to play music beyond the prescribed time limit for playing loud music in open areas.

The Tourism Minister in a press briefing had said the Electronic Dance Music (EDM) won’t be allowed on December 31, after which the promoter of the EDM, Harinder Singh, said that December 30 would be the last day of the event. He also said that those who have bought tickets for the  fourth day would get a refund.

However, while speaking to the press, Singh said, “Right now we have got in-principle approval for the festival and it will be held on December 28, 29 and 30. “Right now it is permission for music to be played till 10 pm. But if the government relaxes the deadline to  midnight it will be held accordingly,” he said.

The Tourism Minister Khaunte however said, “Sunburn cannot make the Government dance to their music. They had applied for 4 pm to 12 pm but the Tourism Department has given permission from 4 pm to 10 pm,” he said.

While Tourism Minister Khaunte speaking after the Empowered Committee meeting said that the permission is provisional, the promoter of the EDM said that he had received in-principle approval for the show.

The promoter of Sunburn surprisingly applied for permission to play music till 12 am when the entire Anjuna Vagator residents were battling on the ground as well as in the High Court against Noise Pollution and traffic issues due to the events in the area.
