MARGAO: BJP Nuvem MLA Wilfred D’Sa alias Babashan recently made a successful attempt in proving that his dedication towards the development of Nuvem Constituency was the only motive which made him to support Dr Pramod Sawant-led BJP government.
Speaking to Herald, several workers and supporters expressed satisfaction towards the development works done by their MLA in the short span of time. Even the Chief Minister, besides Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho, NRI Commissioner Adv Narendra Sawaikar and other political leaders appreciated the hard efforts of Babashan.
One of the major works initiated by Nuvem MLA was the construction of a football stadium with futsal ground in Verna. It was a long pending demand of the villagers and sports lovers.
Few other development works inaugurated and lying of foundation stone on his birthday includes construction of subway near Holy Cross Church, Verna; 500 cum overhead reservoir at Betalbatim, development of Algao and Velli add Tollea and construction of sluice gates at Nagvaddo, Betalbatim; development of Dignem Lake at Verna, inauguration of modern science laboratory at Mae Dos Pobres School, Nuvem; development of Gonsua Lake, Betalbatim, besides others.
Appreciating the work done by their MLA, John Philip Pereira, attorney of Comunidade of Nagao said the work done by their MLA in Nuvem Constituency especially in the field of promoting agriculture and rejuvenating the traditional water bodies which were neglected for many years need to be underlined.
“For the cultivation of Rabi crops, the bandaras and lakes are closed to supply water for rabi crops as well as water bodies are maintained. Due to which biodiversity is also preserved, otherwise it would be barren lands,” said Jose Roque Andrade, chairman, Nuvem Biodiversity Committee.
Judith Rebelo from Verna said that Babashan has always been available at all times to the villagers.
“A lot of help has been given to the farmers. We are looking forward to the new road in Dulape village which we have been asking for years,” she added.
Florian Colaco, vice-chairman of PTA Mae Dos Pobres School, Nuvem thanked the MLA for all-round development he initiated right from his tenure as our Zilla Panchayat member till date especially in giving a modern science laboratory, separate toilets for boys and girls, fixing pavers and tiles in the school premises.
Constantino Antao, Majorda said the service provided by the Nuvem MLA at the time of COVID pandemic was remarkable.
“He is the MLA who is always seen with the people, and helping them in whatever way he can. Babashan has worked hard in providing all necessary facilities to the farmers,” he stated.
