PANJIM: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) on Thursday appointed former member of Navelim Panchayat in Bicholim Taluka and United Tribals Association Alliance (UTAA) Suryakant Gaude as the State convenor of Goa Pradesh Aadivasi Congress Committee, to look into the issues of the Schedule Tribes (ST) communities of Goa.
While giving appointment letter to Gaude, GPCC president Girish Chodankar said that it is necessary to keep a watch on government’s functioning, in regards to providing facilities and welfare and various social schemes to ST communities and hence the Goa Pradesh Aadivasi Congress Committee will monitor it.
“BJP has so far only used ST communities and Bahujan Samaj to gain votes and for vested interest. ST community is reeling through several problems, but their issues are not resolved by the government. We need to highlight them and bring it to the notice of the government,” Chodankar said.
Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat has congratulated Suryakant Gaude on his appointment as convenor of Goa Pradesh Aadivasi Congress Committee. “Let us work together for betterment of tribal community of Goa,” Kamat said.
