When questioned on the outbreak of dengue cases in the port town, a medical officer said the vector-borne diseases occur during monsoons. However, continuous downpour results in mosquito eggs getting washed away. But if there is interrupted rain then such period is beneficial for mosquitoes to breed in large number. The officer stressed the need to fog the breeding sites and by keeping the surroundings clean.
