Suspend the police officers demands Alemao

Even as the DGP has ordered an enquiry by a gazetted officer into the assault on the football fan Lester D’Souza on 8th November 2018 at the Fatorda stadium by police officials, Goa Football Association President Churchill Alemao while demanding the suspension of the two police officers said some action would be taken. Speaking to media persons he said the police had no right whatsoever to get physical with the fan and at the most should have taken him away without beating him so mercilessly. “Both the PSIs Rounak Kadam and DattaprasadToraskar have to be suspended,” he adding that he had already raised up this matter with DGP.
While pointing out that FC Goa is paying over Rs. 3 crore for the security arrangements, he said security did not give anybody the right to get physical with fans. He said Lester intervened in the matter only when the police assaulted his mother which was also uncalled for.
When asked whether fans will boycott FC Goa matches he quipped: “Why should the match suffer? Let the match go on.” And even as he refused to specify how fans will react, he confidently said action will be taken against the two police officials. Meanwhile following a complaint by Lester’s parents the DGP ordered an enquiry into the matter and Deputy Superintendent of Police Raju Raut Dessai is conducting the enquiry and is expected to submit his report to the DGP tomorrow.
