Suspended Nerul Comunidade attorney effected massive share transfers in family members’ names

Shares were allegedly transferred during Covid-19 pandemic under the nose of the administration & in connivance with Administrator of Comunidades, in 2019

MAPUSA: Suspended attorney of Nerul Comunidade Romana Cordo allegedly transferred massive 72 shares belonging to several shareholders of Nerul Comunidade in her family members’ names. Shockingly, this was done during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Administrator of Comunidades, North Goa, had suspended attorney of Nerul Comunidade Romana Cordo earlier for transferring Comunidade shares in her name.

The complainants alleged that said crime was committed in connivance with the Administrator of Comunidades who was holding the post in 2019. Those shareholders’ shares were transferred, who had settled down either out of State or country, while in some cases the shareholders were dead.

In one such case, Romana Cordo allegedly transferred 20 shares of Kenkre brothers from Mapusa, whose father Shrikant Kenkre had further gifted them to his two sons Anil Kenkre and Mahesh Kenkre in 1988.

However, in 2019, the accused woman got the shares transferred in her name by giving false/fabricated documents claiming the share stand in the name of her grand uncle Pedro Paul De Souza de Nerul and she has lost the share certificate and wanted to obtain duplicate certificate.

This time O Heraldo has managed to get details of remaining more than 50 shares which were allegedly transferred right under the nose of the shareholders and the administration, this time, in the names of Cordo’s dead mother, sister, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, niece and nephew.

Romano Cordo’s mother, Clotilda Virginia Santana Tereza Fernandes E Cordo, who is supposed to have died way back in 2013, had 18 shares which were allegedly transferred twice, once in 2007. This was done without the signature of the administrator, while again in 2010, 29 shares were transferred to Romana Cordo when there are no records to show that shares were in the name of Clotilda Virginia Santana Tereza Fernandes e Cordo.

Since the shares were already transferred, Clotilda is supposed to have zero shares but as per the documents obtained from the office of comunidade, North Goa, both daughter and mother continued to show 18 shares in contas correntes list for 2022 along with Romana Cordo, where they are enjoying dividends twice for the same share serial numbers for the past more than 10 years, even as Clotilda died somewhere in 2013.

Further in another transaction dated August 8, 2015, Romana Cordo transferred four of the shares to her twin sister Loretta Fernandes with intention to make her eligible for election in the Nerul committee in the 2016 election.

Since two members of the same family could not be part of the same committee, the presiding officer denied her the same.

Ironically, these shares continue to appear in mother Clotilda’s, Romana’s and Loretta’s names where they are enjoying dividends for these same four shares by three people for the past five years continually.

O Heraldo had earlier highlighted how Romana Cordo through fake gazette publication in 2019 had fraudulently transferred 30 shares of which 10 belonged to Mahesh S Kenkre and 10 shares of Anil Kenkre. Another set of 10 shares were transferred even as they actually belong to Chandrashekar Mor who had legally transferred the same share in his name just 11 days prior to her transfer. The shares originally belonged to Laxmidas Mor. Cordo allegedly declared that the shares belonged to her uncle Mateus Henrique Cordo which was never the case and other shares belonged to Oscar Sebastian Valles.

Meanwhile, the third member of the Cordo family, Loretta Fernandes, twin sister of Romana Cordo transferred six shares which actually belong to Gabriel Jose Cruz De Azavedo Souza De Nerul since August 19, 1961, via averbamente. However, Lorreta Fernandes through gazette publication declared the same shares as belonging to Maria Lilia Sabestiana Fernandes.

Roque Fernandes, husband of Loretta Fernandes, illegally transferred seven shares which actually belong to Savio Santos family.

Further sister-in-law of Romana Cordo, Celeste Cordo transferred 18 shares of Kevin D’Mello by again declaring Kevin as dead and straight away transferred the shares to her name through gazette publication in spite of the fact that Kevin has children based in Canada while violating Article 418 and criminal forgery.

Romana also transferred shares to her niece Rea Fernandes, nephew Reshan Jose Fernandes and one Anthony D’Souza of Calangute when the shares actually belonged to the late Oscar Vales.
