Suspension of teacher ordered for ‘hate’ speech at anti-CAA rally

PANJIM: Directorate of Education has ordered suspension of anti-CAA activist Ramakrishna Jalmi, who was arrested for his hate speech last week, from the service. 

Jalmi was working as laboratory assistant of Vocational Section at Swami Vivekanand Vidya Prasarak Mandal’s higher secondary school, Borim.

Director Education Vandana Rao, in an order issued on March 2, has directed the school management to suspend Jalmi under Section 11(3) of the Goa School Education Act, 1984 and initiate disciplinary action against him. School has been asked to submit compliance report within three days.

The order of Rao says that Jalmi has violated the code of conduct under Rule 100(ii), (xiv) (xvii) under Goa School Education Rule, 1986 and also Section 12(2)(b) of the Goa School Education Act, 1984.

“As he has violated the code of conduct, he is liable for disciplinary action as prescribed under the Act and Rules,” Rao said.

Rao said that the school being an aided institution, the Goa School Education Act and Rules are applicable to every employee and also the code of conduct.

Rao said that the department through newspaper report has observed that crime branch arrested Jalmi, for uttering derogatory words against Lord Purshuram during anti-CAA rally held on Saturday, February 29 at Benaulim village.

He was arrested by police under section 295(A) and 153(A) of the Indian Penal Code for hurting religion sentiments through his utterances.
