Suspicious baggage on flight triggers bomb scare at Dabolim airport

VASCO: An unclaimed bag on board Delhi-Goa flight created a bomb scare at the Dabolim International Airport on Friday night. 

According to information available, Air India Express flight with 171 passengers from Delhi airport was to land at the Dabolim airport at around 8.30 pm on Friday. While the flight was in mid-air, the crew found an unknown bag in the flight which had no claimants. 

It created panic mid-air the flight immediately contacted the ATC and CISF at the Dabolim airport and informed them about the unclaimed bag. The matter was taken up in a meeting with the Bomb Threat review committee and it was decided that the flight would be parked on the isolated bay at the Dabolim airport on arrival. 

After the flight landed, it was parked at an isolated bay and all the passengers were offloaded and checked. The baggage of the passengers were also checked and finally the team checked the unclaimed baggage and opened it only to find that it had clothes in it, the source informed.

 It was later realised that the bag belonged to one of the passengers who had got off at the Delhi airport and had mistakenly taken one of the crew baggage instead of his bag. The flight authorities then contacted the passenger and informed him that he had accidentally taken the bag of the crew member and left his bag behind thus created a panic situation.
