Swab Centre at SGDH moves to Ravindra Bhavan

MARGAO: Swab Centre and testing facility is shifted from SGDH to Ravindra Bhavan, Margao on Thursday following an order issued by the Medical Superintendent of South Goa District Hospital. The screening room would be instituted in the vacant place of SGDH by Friday. 

The swab centre will be operational from 8 am to 8 pm on daily basis, including Sunday. Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) and Swab collection for RT-PCR will be done at Ravindra Bhavan, revealed MS Dr Deepa Correia Afonso. 

Earlier, at the District Administration level, it was decided to move the swab centre to Borda. A TV serial shooting was going on in Ravindra Bhavan for the last many days and it was stopped on Wednesday. 

The functioning on the swab started immediately after shifting engaging all medical officers and the staff. 

The place thus far used for the swab centre at SGDH will be used as a screening room. 

As informed by the Nodal Officer of SGDH Dr Rajesh Patil, people coming to the hospital will be screened in three stages. 

“There will be the screening point, green zone and the third one will be the red zone. The place will be utilized for nearly 15 to 20 beds with an oxygen facility. After screening, the serious patients will be taken to casualty, said Dr Patil. 

He also informed that one Ayush doctor will be on duty at the screening centre. 

Dr Patil said that this screening centre will be started by Friday evening. “We also need extra staff and beds. But whatever may the situation this screening centre will start at earliest”, he stated.
