Swachh Bharat Nital Goem takes off in Goa

CM: Goa to be garbage free by next Dec

PANJIM: Announcing that Goa would be made garbage free by Liberation Day-2015, Chief Minister announced that by December 19, 2014 four bins would be kept in all schools and government departments, for segregation and collection of non bio-degradable waste.
“Students and government officers can even get their waste from home and dump it in the bins. This is a unique initiative that we are planning to undertake,” Parrikar said while launching the month-long ‘Swachh Bharat, Nital Goem’ campaign in the city, Thursday.
The programme will continue till October 23, which is aimed at making Goa garbage-free.
During the launch, Parrikar said that the government will take the campaign seriously to make Goa clean and garbage free before the target date. He instructed the concerned officials to provide bins in every department for collecting garbage from office premises and further advised them to avoid use of plastic in the offices.
