PANJIM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday asserted that initiatives of ‘Swayampurna Goa’ and ‘Sarkar Tumchya Dari’ by the State government are a reflection of pro-active and pro-people governance that prevails in the State.
Modi was speaking during a virtual interaction with Swayampurna Mitra, sarpanch, municipal chairperson and beneficiaries in the State.
The Prime Minister reiterated that Goa has enough potential to achieve its all round growth, which would complement the Swayampurna Goa movement in the State.
Modi wholeheartedly lauded the progress made by the Goa government in the sector of health, social economy and infrastructure. He appreciated efforts put in by the Swayampurna Mitras, sarpanchas, panchayat members towards achieving and empowering the Swayampurna Goa movement.
Modi underlined the 100 per cent achievement made by the government in the COVID-19 vaccination drive, implementation of ‘Har Ghar Jal’ Scheme, Griha Adhaar and other welfare schemes all leading towards the development of the State.
The Centre has increased Goa’s fund for modernisation of rural infrastructure five-fold this year, he said and called for the need to have continuation of ‘double engine’ government in order to realise the vision of making Goa self-reliant.

Mission along with Aatmanirbhar Bharat campaign, which would become a new model for the development of the State.
Earlier, Sawant informed the Prime Minister of the aims and objectives of the Swayampurna Goa initiative in the State and its structure of implementation. He said the movement has become instrumental in delivering prompt and effective service to the people and to ensure the reach of various welfare schemes of the government and its implementation.
During the interaction, Swayampurna Mitra of Assonora village panchayat Isha Sawant shared her experience and achievements. Betalbatim sarpanch Constancio Miranda and Bicholim Municipal Council chairperson Kundan Falari also expressed their views. Fish vendor Luis Cardoso, Nishita Gawas of Self-Help Group (SHG) from Pale-Kothambi, a stall owner from Vasco Ruki Ahmed and Durgesh Shirodkar of Goa Dairy shared their achievements through Swayampurna Goa.
The interaction was telecast live on social media platforms and viewed on screens at various talukas and village panchayats in the State so as to reach the people across the length and breadth of the State.
