Swine flu: 12 samples test negative

PANJIM: All the 12 samples sent for analysis outside the State by the Directorate of Health Services, a couple of weeks ago, have been found to be negative for swine flu.

The department has confirmed that of the 42 samples that tested positive since January this year, three persons died due to the illness, three are still receiving treatment at private hospitals around Goa, and the rest have recovered.
Though the number of samples testing positive for swine flu have reduced, State epidemiologist Dr Utkarsh Betodkar advised caution, keeping an eye on the situation in North India was crucial. “It is too early to say that there won’t be any more cases of swine flu in Goa.”
