PANJIM: Two days after Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza revealed that swine flu-affected patients were traced in Goa, the government on Friday issued an advisory asking people to take basic precautions against the infection.

PANJIM: Two days after Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza revealed that swine flu-affected patients were traced in Goa, the government on Friday issued an advisory asking people to take basic precautions against the infection.
“Though there is no cause for alarm, the general public is requested to take precautions to prevent contracting or spreading this disease,” the advisory issued by the Directorate of Health Services, reads. 
People are asked to cover the mouth and nose with a handkerchief while coughing or sneezing and wash hands frequently with soap.
 and water before and after touching the nose, eyes or mouth, try to avoid visiting crowded places, stay more than an arm’s length (two metres) from people afflicted with flu like symptoms,” says the advisory, which has also cautioned people against spitting in public.
D’Souza, who holds the health portfolio, had on Wednesday confirmed that two people were suspected to be suffering from swine flu caused by H1N1 virus in Goa and had been admitted to a South Goa hospital.
“As per my knowledge we have received two suspected swine flu cases. Both are elderly citizens and one of them had arrived from Hong Kong. We are stocking medicines in the Goa Medical College and Hospital, and Directorate of Health Services for treatment,” he had said.
