CANACONA: The South Goa Comunidade Administrator Pradeep Naik has issued demolition notices to several illegal constructions mushroomed on Canacona and Nararcem-Palolem Comunidade land.

The occupants have been given a deadline upto April 18, 2023, to demolish their houses. Canacona Taluka has six Comunidades namely Cola, Nagacem-Palolem, Poinguinim, Gaondongari and Loliem-Pollem. Illegal constructions have been reported in two of the six Comunidades, while land in other four Comindades is reportedly safe and secured.

The Canacona and Nagarcem-Palolem Comunidades have over 400 members. Areas in Val, Parve, Karashirmal in Agonda Panchayat jurisdiction in Canacona Comunidade have been encroached upon. The South Goa Comunidade has ordered demolition of houses illegally built in the above areas.

The administration is expected to demolish the constructions on April 18, though the occupants have not vacated the said houses.

These houses have been constructed without obtaining the NOC from local Comunidade. However, there are allegations that the houses have ‘blessings’ of the local Comunidade.

Meanwhile, Comunidade members had approached the court for demolition of illegal houses in Agonda area. An order was also passed for demolition of the houses but there has been no action since a year.
