SWR to run parcel express specials

VASCO: South Western Railway has decided to run Train No 00639/00640  Vasco da Gama parcel express special between Vasco da Gama and Shalimar to transport essential commodities in view of COVID-19 pandemic.

In a press release issued by SWR, Train No 00639 Vasco da Gama – Shalimar Parcel Express Special will depart from Vasco da Gama at 11 pm on May 4  and arrive in Shalimar at 9.15 pm on May 6 (1 Trip).

Train No 00640 Shalimar- Vasco da Gama Parcel Express Special will depart from Shalimar 12:30 pm on May 7 and arrive in Vasco Da Gama at 10:45 am on May 9 (1 Trip). 

The train will have commercial stoppages at Margao, Hubballi, Gadag, Koppal, Hosapete, Ballari, Guntakal, Dhone, Nandyal, Guntur, Vijayawada, Rajamundry, Visakhapatnam, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Balasore, Kharagpur, Panskura and Mecheda in both directions. Parcels can be loaded at all these stations. Loading of parcels will be permitted at other en-route stations also depending on the demand.

The train will have a composition of 5 parcel vans and 2 luggage-cum- brake vans. No minimum limit of load or goods to be carried. Small consignments can also be transported.

e- commerce companies, traders and railway customers are requested to avail this facility by registering their demand and join Indian Railways’ fight against COVID-19,” adds the press release.

Meanwhile, Train No 00638 Howrah – Vasco da Gama Parcel Express Special will depart from Howrah at 12 pm on Tuesday and will arrive at Vasco da Gama at 12:30 pm on Thursday.

In a press release, SWR mentioned that this train will have commercial stoppages at Mecheda, Panskura, Kharagpur, Balasore, Bhubaneswar, Khurda Road, Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Guntur, Nandyal, Dhone, Guntakal, Ballari, Hosapete, Koppal, Gadag, Hubballi and Margao. Parcels can be loaded at all these stations. Loading of parcels will be permitted at other en-route stations also depending on the demand.
