VASCO: The South Western Railway (SWR) has decided to start Vasco-Kulem-Vasco passenger daily train from Monday on the regular timings.
The train will halt at the stations as done in the past. The continuation of this Vasco-Kulem-Vasco passenger train will depend on the passengers turn out and people’s response, informed a SWR source.
In a press release, the South Western Railway stated that both Train No. 07341/07342 Vasco da Gama – Kulem – Vasco Da Gama daily and Train No. 07343/07344 Vasco da Gama – Kulem – Vasco da Gama daily which were earlier notified as Express Specials will be now to be treated as passenger trains.
It informed that the train timings of the Vasco da Gama- Kullem passenger train will be the same.
When asked why both these trains will run only from December 7 to 16 from both sides, the source said it is the pattern that the railway follows and the continuation of these passenger trains will depend on people’s response.
It may be recalled that an ex-councillor, social worker and activist had pursued this matter considering the daily commuters’ requests.
Jennifer Menezes from Guirdolim said, “I have been praying for the start of the Kulem -Vasco passenger train as for the past eight months, people were facing problems travelling longer distance to reach their workplaces.”
