TAG launches tiatr workshop in Mangaluru

The Tiatr Acad emy of Goa (TAG), in as sociation with St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru, has commenced a Tiatr Training Programme to promote and strength en the tradition of Konkani tiatr among students and aspiring artistes. The workshop was in augurated on Thursday at Magis Hall, St Aloysius University, in the presence of faculty, students, theatre enthusiasts and cultural activists. The programme is organised by the School of Languages and Cultural Studies, Konkani Depart ment and Association of St Aloysius University in col laboration with TAG. TAG President Anthony Barbosa said it was an hon our to extend the Academy’s activities beyond Goa to pro mote tiatr in other states and encourage young talent. He highlighted tiatr as a pow erful medium of Konkani expression and social aware ness and urged students to help preserve the art form. The inaugural function was presided over by Pro Vice Chancellor Rev Dr Melwyn D’Cunha, who stressed the role of educa tional institutions in nur turing cultural heritage. The training offers struc tured, practical exposure to acting, scriptwriting, music, singing, direction and stage performance, while creating awareness about tiatr’s historical and socio-cultural significance and encouraging youth participation in preserving Konkani artistic traditions.
