TAG to build online presence with launch of YouTube channel

In a bid to reach tiatr lovers across the globe and elicit better response to TAG events, the channel will stream all tiatr and artiste-related programmes, but not entire performances

MARGAO: Hoping to reach large numbers of tiatr lovers from across the world, the Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) has now decided to start a YouTube channel, to stream as many TAG programmes as possible, for the benefit of the Goan diaspora.

Suresh Divkar, Member Secretary of TAG, said that the launch of the Youtube channel will be held on January 24 at the Tiatr Academy conference hall. It is pertinent to note that tiatr, which is one of India’s unique forms of performance art, has a vast audience across the world. The love for tiatr has crossed the boundaries of the State and country, and spread throughout the globe, wherein tiatr artists are witnessed performing even in the Gulf and European countries.

“All the programmes, excluding the full tiatr performance, will be uploaded on the YouTube channel, wherein tiatr lovers will be able to watch them”, said Divekar.

He said many are unaware about what TAG is doing to promote tiatr and hence this channel will help them reach a large number of tiatr lovers scattered across the world.

Menino Fernandes alias Menino de Bhandar, President of TAG, lamented that they receive a poor response from tiatr lovers towards several programmes that are held under the aegis of the academy. “Many programmes of the academy such as ‘Meet the artist’ receive a very poor response, and this motivated TAG to start the YouTube channel so that tiatr lovers can watch it while sitting at home,” said Menino.  Soccoro de Santacruz, Vice-President of TAG said many people ended up missing these programmes organised by TAG due to several reasons.

“Now, every tiatr lover will get an opportunity to watch the programmes related to tiatr,” he said.
