The Goa University Teachers Association (GUTA) is poised to take a
stand against student misconduct, as they threaten to withhold cooperation with
the Goa University Administration regarding any upcoming election procedures.
This ultimatum comes in response to the administration’s perceived inaction in
addressing threats made by certain individuals against university staff.
The incident in question unfolded on Monday when numerous teachers
and university personnel united to voice their grievances against a university
student and their supporters. Allegedly, these individuals obstructed and
threatened university staff members during the process of conducting student
union elections.
In a bid to safeguard the interests and well-being of their
members, GUTA is making it clear that they will not engage in any collaborative
efforts with the university administration related to elections unless concrete
actions are taken against those responsible for threatening university staff.
This development underscores the importance of maintaining a safe and
respectful academic environment.
