Take strict measures to protect Goa’s tourism image: Lobo

PORVORIM: While demanding for periodical meetings of Panchayats, Police and Tourism Department, Deputy Speaker and Calangute MLA Michael Lobo on Tuesday said that the Tourism Department should take strict measures to protect Goa image on the world map.
Lobo also demanded that budget allocation for Tourism is less and should be increased.
“The tourism department should take strict measures to protect Goa image on the world map. There should be proper coordination and periodical meetings of Panchayat, Police and Tourism Department should be held regularly,” said Lobo
He said, “Today the Rs 1,000 crore budget allocation for the Tourism Department is not enough and it should be increased 5 times. Strict measures should be taken of the various illegal activities that are taking place on the coastal belt.”
He further said that the South Goa District Hospital should be ready as soon as possible as it will bring down the load of patients on Goa Medical College (GMC).
Speaking on sports, Lobo demanded that sports should made as a subject in schools while demanding that 10-12 schools should have common sports facility and that time for all games should be increased.
“Sports infrastructure should be increased and given more preference. Also schools should be give budget for procuring various kits for respective games. Sports should be encouraged among students,” he added.
