VASCO: Vasco Police on Sunday arrested a native of Tamil Nadu on charges of travelling on a forged passport.
According to Vasco Police, the immigration officer attached to Dabolim airport, P Ravichandran, complained that Anwar Batsha Kamaludeen arrived at Dabolim airport from Oman by the Qatar Airways at 2.30 am.
Police further informed that the immigration officials at the airport while on a routine check found that the passport on which the accused was travelling was tampered and forged. The immigration officials detained Anwar and later handed him over to Vasco Police for further investigation.
Speaking to media, accused Anwar stated that his employer in Oman, where he worked for the last five years, tore his passport. He further said that with the help of an agent in Oman, he procured the fake passport.
Vasco Police arrested Anwar and PSI John Fernandes is investigating the case.
