Tapobhoomi Kundaim delighted with Padma Shri

Swami Brahmeshanandacharya says he and his disciples across Goa are delighted with the government’s recognition for their spiritual work

PONDA: It was not only a moment of pride for Tapobhoomi — Shree Datta Padmanabh Peeth at Kundaim but for the entire Goan community after news of Union government declared Padma Shri award to Swami Brahmeshanandacharya, head of Tapobhoomi Peet, for his spiritual work.

When asked for his reaction and whether he was having any expectation towards his spiritual contribution, Swami Brahmeshanandacharya  (41) said, “It was mercy of God that I am spreading spiritual knowledge through Tapobhoomi, without any expectations from the society.”

“We were taken by surprise. But I and my disciples across Goa are delighted with the government’s recognition and Padma Shri Award for Tapoboomi’s spiritual work,” Swami Brahmeshanandacharya added.

The award is one of the highest civilian awards, and he thanked the Government of India and Goa Government for recommending their name for this award.

Swami Brahmeshanandacharya said, “This spiritual work and guidance was provided to Bahujans of Goa without any expectation. Though I got the award it goes to my Guru Brahmanand Swami who laid foundation for spiritual work.”

“We human beings are creation of God. Every happiness lies within us, but due to lack of spiritual knowledge in our routine life. We forget the very existence of God among us which has the ability to make us happy but there is need to realise it through spiritual practices. But in our life we are obsessed with passion to seek more happiness and run after materialistic world to achieve happiness in life.”

“This happiness in the materialistic world can’t provide real mental happiness and so there is need of spiritual knowledge to know about our self through which we dedicate ourselves to God, pray to him and achieve a permanent happiness in life,” he added.

He urged youth to imbibe the ideals of great leader Subashchandra Bose who selflessly worked for his countrymen.
