MARGAO: Taps in parts of Curtorim and Macasana are running dry for last five days. Breakdown of a pump at the water station has led to stoppage of water supply. The consumers complain that the PWD lacks the resources to maintain the water pipelines.
They claim that the PWD has no labourers, vehicle and resources to get the non-functioning pump repaired. The people also have warned that a dilapidated culvert in that area, if not repaired, will destroy the water pipeline passing over it.
The people from Curtorim on Tuesday went to meet the water supply officials at Fatorda. However, no engineer was present in the office. The people were informed by the staff at the office that water supply to their area was stopped due to breakdown of a pump at the water station.
