PONDA: The villagers at Talponwada, Shiroda are facing lot of hardships due to water taps running dry for the last eight days.
Due to irregular supply of water for the last eight days their Ganesh Chaturthi festival was also dampened. The locals complained that they are not getting regular tap water supply and rued that their pleas had fallen on deaf ears of PWD.
They further said that they don’t have a drop of water to complete their basic routine.
Former Zilla Panchayat (ZP) member Jaydeep Shirodkar said that taps running dry during festival has dampened the festive spirit of the residents with some people bringing water in buckets and utensils tin their four wheelers and even on their two wheelers from distant places. Nearly 150 households are facing acute water crisis, he said.
Shirodkar said that after he spoke to PWD (Water Supply Division) junior engineers, the latter visited the area and assured the residents that the PWD would normalise water supply soon.
