Tata Nano drives into Panjim
HERALD REPORTER
PANJIM, SEPT 1
Antonio Francisco Monserrate became the first Ponnjekar to drive a Tata Nano when he was handed the keys of a Champagne Gold-coloured Nano CX by Chief Minister Digambar Kamat at the Tata dealership in Panjim, Vistar Motors, on Friday.
Tata Motors commenced deliveries of the Nano in July, but it took till August for Goa to get its first cars. The vehicle is manufactured at the Tata Motors Pantnagar plant in Uttarakhand.
The first 1 lakh deliveries are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2010, but it might well be earlier, as efforts are on to ramp up production at the Pantnagar plant and to get the Sanand plant near Ahmedabad up and running before schedule.
