PANJIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Friday warned that those who evaded GST and VAT will face stringent action and arrest.
Reacting to the arrest of two directors of an automobile firm from Verna for evading GST amounting to Rs 20.96 crore and VAT of Rs 10 crore, Sawant said that the Department of Commercial Taxes has started initiating action against the tax evaders.
The chief minister appealed to the people to pay their taxes on time and to be a responsible citizen and avoid raids and arrest.
The Verna police on Thursday arrested two directors, a father and his son for evading taxes.
