Taxi driver assaulted in Anjuna

MAPUSA: Anjuna Police booked around 20 to 25 unknown persons for allegedly assaulting a taxi driver and for damaging his vehicle at Grand Peddem, Anjuna on Wednesday.

According to Anjuna Police, Abdul Parish Wadi, a resident of Vasco, who is a driver with an app-based taxi service, in his complaint stated that he was returning from the Dabolim airport when he met a passenger whom he offered service not via the app.

The complainant stated that on reaching Anjuna, he was stopped by a group of 20-25 persons, who assaulted him and damaged his vehicle assuming that he had come with a passenger through the app-based service.

Anjuna Police have registered an offence under Sections 324, 504, 341 and 427 of the IPÇ.

PSI Mahesh Kerkar is investigating the case.
