MARGAO: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar might have brought about a truce in the ongoing agitation launched by the Tourist Taxi operators, which had taken a violent turn earlier this week.
But, South Goa Tourist Taxi Operators, however, on Thursday expressed resentment that their rivals in the business have been allegedly threatening and assaulting them in the last 24 hours.
Benaulim MLA Caitu Silva accompanied a large number agitated tourist taxi operators from Salcete’s coastal belt to the Margao police headquarters demanding action against the miscreants involved in the attack on a tourist taxi operator at the Margao pick up stand.
In a complaint lodged with the Margao police, Joseph Mascarenhas, driver , Majorda has alleged that on Thursday Feb 27 when he came to park his Chevrolet Tavora tourist taxi GA-08-U-3041, carrying a Russian tourist couple and two children, at the Margao pickup stand, he was hit by some accused on his forehead while some other persons damaged the front screen causing a loss of Rs 25,000.
An offence under sections 337, 323, 427 read with 34 IPC has been registered against two unknown accuse by Margao police.
Meanwhile, Margao DySP Mohan Naik held a joint meeting with the representatives of rent-a-car business and the tourist taxi operators at his chamber this evening.
When contacted DySP Naik informed that tentatively the issues have been sorted out and that he has convened another meeting with both the groups in a day or two.
