PANJIM: In an order, the Department of Town and Country Planning (TCP) has notified the Goa Bazaar building to be constructed by the North Goa District Rural Development Agency (RDA).
This project which has been delayed for a decade due to administrative hurdles, is to come up in the land surveyed under Survey Nos 42, 43 and 44 (part) of Morombi-O-Pequeno, Merces, Tiswadi Taluka.
The notification issued by James Mathew, Chief Town Planner (Administration), was done by exercising powers conferred by Clause (k) of Section 2 of the Goa Tax on Infrastructure Act, 2009 (Goa Act 20 of 2009).
It may be recalled that the project envisaged by the RDA has received Rs 12 crore funding from the Central government.
RDA Minister Michael Lobo had earlier stated that the Central government in lines with Delhi Haat had proposed to come up with ‘Goa Bazaar’ in a bid to provide a business platform for local artisans and self help groups almost 11 years ago.
