MARGAO: Raia Panchayat body along with Town and Country Planning officials (TCP) officials inspected area where allegedly hills are being razed off illegally at Bacbhatt, Raia. This was in response to the locals’ demand to register FIR against the builder and vigilance inquiry against the Town and Country Planning officials (TCP) and former Sarpanch of Raia panchayat for giving permissions to cut hill without verifying the documents.
TCP official Nitin Naik was joined by present Sarpanch of village panchayat Raia Minguelina D’Souza, panch member James D’costa while doing the inspection .
Locals demanded to revoke the license given by the panchayat at the earliest.
Sarpanch Minguelina D’Souza said that the panchayat had requested to conduct joint-inspection, as several complaints of alleged illegalities have been reported at the site.
TCP officials admitted that there is illegal hill cutting and hence the report will be submitted to the higher officials.
Panch member James D’Costa said that former Sarpanch had asked them to sign the papers stating that a complex will be constructed.
