TCP to hold site inspection of ‘Silly Souls Cafe & bar’

PANJIM: The Department of Town and Country Planning (TCP) has decided to conduct site inspection of the alleged illegal construction and land filling of tenanted land by ‘Silly Souls Café and Bar’ in Assagao, owned by Union Minister Smriti Irani’s family.

The complainant, Adv Aires Rodrigues, informed that the Chief Town Planner has directed the North Goa senior town planner to inspect the site and to initiate necessary action, if found in violation of law.

Rodrigues had on July 28 filed a complaint with the TCP seeking immediate intervention of the Chief Town Planner into the illegal change of land use and filling of low-lying tenanted field in rank contravention of law to erect the now controversial restaurant.

Earlier in the week, the Directorate of Panchayats had asked the Mapusa BDO to probe into the allegation and illegalities pointed out by the complainant with regards to the restaurant.

Rodrigues had alleged that the restaurant was built without obtaining the necessary permissions from the local Panchayat and other authorities.
