PANJIM: The Department of Town and Country Planning (TCP) will soon be signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) to give a boost to the green building movement and to facilitate green certification to the new projects.

TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane on Friday chaired a Board meeting during which the decision was taken that an MoU be signed with the IGBC soon to obtain their services for green certification.

“We shall soon be signing an MoU with IGBC for green certification. They shall also be helping us with various planning aspects to work towards Green Goa,” Rane tweeted post meeting.

During its past meeting too, the Board had decided that the projects such as golf centres, film city and film studios, etc, will be provided only if they have green certification.

The IGBC will be regularly monitoring the compliance with green certification and the completion certificates to the projects will be granted only if it is within green framework.

Rane said that the Board has finalised various consultants, who have met the criteria set for planning. He said that these consultants will help the department in planning process while drafting outline development plans, zoning plans, etc.
